Dreamweaver: Using Image Maps

An image map is one large image that has been divided into multiple areas that contain multiple links. Image maps are great because they let you create custom shaped links around selected parts of an image.

Step 1: Getting Started

  1. To begin, open a document with an image inserted
  2. Click the image once to select it
  3. Go up to the Properties Inspector to the Image Map options

Step 2: Drawing the Hotspots

For this example, we will need to use the Polygon Tool because we will be creating irregularly shaped hotspots.

  1. Select the Polygon Tool and
  2. Click and drag around the black crayon. Each time you click, you crate a corner point.
