Photoshop Elements 2: Converting an Image to Grayscale

NOTE: If this is the only copy of your image, take a moment and make a copy of it so you're not working with the original. You won't be able to bring the original colors back after converting to grayscale once you save your image.

Step 1: Getting Started

Open an image you'd like to convert to grayscale

Color Image

Step 2: Converting to Grayscale

  1. Go to Image > Mode > Grayscale
  2. The Discard Color Information dialog window will open. Click OK to discard the color and convert to Grayscale.
