Fireworks Masking - Silhouette effect

Step 1. Begin by opening an image or graphic you'd like to apply this effect to.

Step 2. Select one of the Marquee Tools: Rectangle or Oval

Step 3. From the Marquee Tool Options select your style

Normal: Allows you to freely click and drag out your selection
Fixed Ratio: Will constrain both the height and width by a fixed ratio (hence it's name.
Fixed Size: Input a value for both the height and the width and then click on your image.

Step 4. Next, select your style for the edge

Hard: creates a sharp edge
Anti-alias: Creates a smoother edge, removing the hard, jagged appearance.
Feather: Softens the edge by a value you select.
